Why not to try the Keto Diet!

Why not to try the Keto Diet!

Free for all bacon grease, cheese and avocado who wouldn’t want to try it right? Well when something sounds too good to be true it usually is!

Overall the KETO diet doesn’t sound too difficult, basically eat all the protein and healthy fats you desire and cut your carbs down to around 20%. Sounds easy enough? No! Just No!

The idea behind the Keto diet is to get your body into a state known as Ketosis. Ketosis is a natural process the body initiates to help us survive when food intake is low. During this state, we produce ketones, which are produced from the breakdown of fats in the liver. This is achieved by lowering your carbs down to around 50 grams per day or lower depending on weight and increasing the amount of healthy fats you consume.

If anyone has ever told you that cutting carbs is easy, do not trust them! They are not your friend, they probably don’t even like you. It’s all lies!

If you are thinking of trying the diet then here are the 5 stages you need to mentally prepare yourself for…

The Junk food cravings

First comes the empty nauseating feeling in the pit of your stomach, followed by the never ending hunger – believe me when I tell you that nothing will fill that void apart from a carb! I basically had an emotional break down because of Pizza cravings!

Carb Withdrawals

Once you make peace with the fact you are basically now a recovering carb-oholic, you will be faced with the next challenge which I can only describe as ‘the mid-week withdrawals’. The headaches are unbearable, they sneak up on you and nothing can prepare you for the emotional roller coaster that lies ahead.
