If you’ve ever Googled “best spa day UK”, chances are Ragdale Hall Spa has come up… a lot.
So naturally, we went to see if it’s genuinely worth the hype – or just very good marketing.
Here’s our honest take.

First Impressions (aka: is it giving luxury?)
Honestly, yes it is. Ragdale Hall sits out in the Leicestershire countryside, and it does feel like you’re escaping real life a bit the second you arrive. Big house, lots of greenery, everyone in robes – you get the vibe.
It’s one of those places that’s very clearly built around the full spa experience (not just a hotel with a pool), which actually makes a difference. You’re not fighting for a lounger at any point or awkwardly hovering around – everything is designed for you to just… exist and relax.

The Spa Facilities (the actual reason you’re here)
This is where Ragdale Hall really does deliver.
There’s a full thermal spa setup – multiple steam rooms, saunas, pools, and relaxation spaces. Not just a couple of spaces, but many! You can easily spend hours just rotating between them without getting bored.

The standout bits:
- The variety (you’re not just in one pool all day)
- The outdoor sauna cabin (weirdly a highlight)
- The infinity pool with those gorgeous views
- Various sensory experiences as you move from area to area, including rainforest vibes and chill out areas
- Enough space that it doesn’t feel chaotic (except maybe in the infinity pool at peak times – try to gte there super early or late in the day to enjoy properly)
It’s one of those spas where you can do a full day and still feel like you didn’t try everything – which, for once, isn’t an exaggeration.

Treatments at Ragdale Hall Spa (worth booking or skip?)
We went for a mid-length massage + facial combo – these cost extra but genuinely it was worth the money – but I wouldn’t say a necessity to feel like you’re in a spa.
The treatments are tailored, not rushed, and actually focus on things like skin barrier repair and tension (not just oils and vibes).
You leave feeling noticeably better, not just temporarily relaxed.
If you’re deciding where to spend your budget:
👉 Facilities = what you’re really there for
👉 Treatments = an added bonus

Food (lunch was better than dinner)
This isn’t your standard sad spa lunch situation.
There’s a proper buffet setup with a mix of lighter options and more indulgent choices — and it’s actually good quality, not just “healthy for the sake of it.”
Dinner (if you stay) is more of a structured, three-course situation, the menu is quite limited but the food itself is decent.
It’s not Michelin-level, but it’s solid – and importantly, you won’t leave hungry (which shouldn’t be a luxury, but here we are).

The Overall Vibe
This is where Ragdale Hall gets it right.
It’s very much a “do as much or as little as you want” kind of place.
You can:
- fully commit to wellness (classes, treatments, routines)
- or just rotate between pools and lie down for 6 hours
No pressure either way.

Final Thoughts
Ragdale Hall isn’t trying to be trendy or ultra-modern — it’s more classic, slightly traditional, but very well thought out.
It does live up to a lot of the hype, especially when it comes to the facilities and overall experience.
Obviously don’t go expecting perfection – go expecting a genuinely good spa day, and you’ll probably leave happy (and very relaxed).
