Red Bull Drift Shifters Event Information:

Red Bull Drift Shifters is one of the biggest, loudest and most precise motorsport events to come to the UK after two previous Auckland editions in 2012 and 2014.

The custom track will be rigged with advanced proximity and speed sensors as the racers perform just feet from crowds in the shadow of the iconic Royal Liver Building.

Ten thousand spectators are expected to line the streets with drifters scoring points for speed, angle and proximity of their cars to the obstacles. The closer, the better.

The event is organised in partnership with Liverpool City Council and forms part of Liverpool 2018, a year of projects marking a decade since the European Capital of Culture.

Drivers will start their run underneath Liverpool’s city centre, in a ‘Fast and Furious 6’ style firing out from the entrance to the Mersey Tunnel and onto the main track.

The track runs across the Pier Head and throughout the city with the biggest and fastest wall-ride ever featured in a Red Bull Drift Shifters event!

Mike Whiddett said:

“It’s an amazing venue; it’s near twice the size of the last two Red Bull Drift Shifters events and it’s got this big D-shape roundabout. The venue also appears in a Fast and Furious movie, so yeah, it’s really cool – I can’t wait to execute it.”

‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett is a Formula Drift star in Japan and the US, who has starred in several videos such as Drift Melbourne, Summer Bash and Magic Roundabout.
