NYX Hotel London Holborn Review With Kids

First things first – the quick verdict

If you’re looking for a central London hotel that feels a bit special (without being stuffy) and actually keeps kids entertained, NYX Holborn is a really solid option.

It’s not perfect (the room size is very London), but between the pool, the little extras, and the location, this ended up being one of the easiest city stays I’ve done with my daughter.

Location: genuinely ideal with kids

We stayed here during the Easter holidays with my 7-year-old, and location-wise, it couldn’t have been much easier.

  • Around a 15-minute walk from London Euston
  • Less than a minute from Holborn Underground station
  • About 25 minutes by bus from London Victoria

When you’re travelling with kids (and all their stuff), being this close to the Tube is a game changer. No long drags across London. No meltdowns halfway through a commute.

First impressions: chaotic in the best way

The second you walk into reception, it’s colour, noise, energy — and honestly, my daughter was obsessed.

This isn’t your typical quiet, neutral hotel lobby. It’s fun. A bit chaotic. Very Instagrammable.

But more importantly… it’s actually kid-friendly in ways that feel intentional, not like an afterthought.

Highlights we loved:

  • 🍿 Free popcorn machine (yes, real popcorn, yes they can help themselves)
  • 📸 A graffiti-style throne embezzled with King Charles with a vintage camera that prints polaroid-style pictures (completely free, unlimited, and you can customise backgrounds)

Those little touches made it feel like part of the experience, not just a place to sleep.

Check-in: unexpectedly smooth

We arrived at 12pm (check-in was meant to be 3pm), fully prepared to just dump our bags and come back later…

…and our room was already ready.

If you’ve ever travelled with a child and luggage, you’ll understand how much of a win this is.

The room: small but very well thought out

Let’s be honest — it is small.

That’s just London. No surprises there. But when you’ve got a child unpacking everything they own, you definitely feel it.

That said, the design and amenities really carry it.

What stood out:

  • Spotlessly clean and beautifully styled
  • Smeg fridge (actual lifesaver for snacks + milk)
  • Proper coffee machine (not just the sad sachets)
  • Complimentary still & sparkling water
  • Plenty of milk (small detail, big win)
  • Glassware, teacups, wine glasses
  • Dressing gowns + slippers (my daughter felt like she was on a spa retreat)
  • Loads of towels + flannels (mums will understand why this matters)

There’s no bath – only a shower – which might be a consideration if you’ve got younger kids. For us, it was fine.

The honest bit:

  • It’s perfect for one night
  • For longer stays, I’d probably upgrade to a bigger room

The bed, though? Huge. Which helps when your child inevitably ends up sleeping sideways across you.

The pool: the standout feature (and genuinely worth it)

I don’t say this lightly – this is the best hotel pool I’ve ever used with my daughter.

And we’ve done a lot of swimming.

Here’s why:

  • The temperature is actually warm (not “technically heated but still freezing”)
  • It’s large and wide, not cramped
  • The depth is 1.2m all the way through → no stressful deep end

We ended up playing mermaids for an hour and a half, which has literally never happened before because I’m usually freezing and counting down the minutes.

NYX London Holborn Pool

The space itself is also gorgeous:

  • Cool, artistic design (my daughter said it looked like something out of a K-pop fantasy)
  • Mosaic detailing
  • Plenty of loungers
  • A separate chill-out area (for parents who actually get to relax… couldn’t be me)

The only downside:

Kids’ swim times are a bit awkward:

  • 10am–12pm
  • 2pm–4pm
  • 7pm–9pm

We only made the 7–9pm slot, which was actually a lovely pre-bed wind-down – but an early morning option would’ve been ideal.

Breakfast: better than expected

Breakfast was included, and it was genuinely good.

You’ve got:

  • Full cooked breakfast
  • Continental options
  • Omelette bar (which felt a bit fancy, not going to lie)
  • Pancakes + waffles (very important if you have kids)

And the coffee? Actually decent. Which matters more than it should.

Price: is it worth it?

We paid £200 for one night, including breakfast.

And honestly? For London – especially with:

  • The pool
  • The location
  • The extras (popcorn, photos, early check-in)
  • The overall vibe

…I thought it was really reasonable.

I’ve paid more for much worse in London through work.

Final verdict: would I stay again with kids?

Yes – especially for a one-night city stay where you want it to feel a bit special without overcomplicating things.

Best for:

  • Mums doing a London day/night trip with kids
  • Families who want a pool that’s actually enjoyable
  • Easy, central stays with minimal stress

Maybe not ideal if:

  • You need lots of space for a longer stay
  • You rely on having a bath for younger children

The bottom line

If you’re searching for a NYX Hotel London Holborn review with kids – this is one of those places that actually delivers on being both stylish and family-friendly.

Not in a “kids club and chaos everywhere” way.

More in a “we’ve thought about this, and it just works” kind of way.
