If you’ve ever wished you could step into a woodland straight out of a fairy tale, Dreamery Gardens in York might be the closest thing. Hidden along quiet woodland paths are tiny fairy houses, magical trails and just enough mystery to keep kids completely enchanted.

We visited with children and quickly realised this isn’t just a walk in the woods… it’s the kind of place where kids slow down, notice tiny details and genuinely believe something magical might be hiding around the next corner.

What is Dreamery Gardens?

Dreamery Gardens York is an enchanting woodland attraction designed around fairy folklore, hidden houses and magical trails. Families follow winding paths through nature while spotting miniature fairy doors, secret garden corners and playful installations designed to spark imagination.

It feels less like a traditional attraction and more like stepping into a storybook woodland, where children naturally slow down to explore every tree root and hidden corner.

The Fairy Trail

The heart of Dreamery Gardens is the fairy trail, where tiny doors, houses and magical scenes are tucked into tree trunks and woodland paths.

Kids quickly turn the walk into a game – searching for hidden fairy homes and spotting magical details you might otherwise miss.

It’s one of those rare attractions where the journey itself becomes the adventure.

The Fairy Museum

Dreamery Gardens ended up being one of our favourite days out near York. I’m honestly not sure who loved it more – me or my six-year-old. Between the fairy trail, the woodland exploring and all the tiny magical details hidden along the way, it felt like the kind of place that really sparks a child’s imagination.
