4 cool things to do in Brighton

Brighton; the UK’s answer to sun, sea, sand and… well, I can’t think of another ‘S’, but a really good fucking time! If you’re looking for a city break this summer that doesn’t involve forking out on flights, then I strongly recommend throwing your mates and your going out tops in the car and heading to Brighton for a fun-filled weekend of debauchery. And, to make sure you have a memorable one, here are four of the things that you absolutely HAVE to do while you’re there.

Lose track of time in Snooper’s Paradise

From 80’s mod furniture, to old gameboys and literally everything in between, Snoopers Paradise is a wondrous treasure trove of vintage tat and antiques. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful North Laine, (which, by the way, are absolutely stunning and totally worth exploring in full!) it’s a truly one-of-a-kind collective featuring over 20 designers, makers and hoarders selling all sorts of bits and bobs that you never knew you needed until now!

Day drink on the beach

One of these best things about Brighton beach – besides the fact that it’s made of stone, which means no finding sand in your pants and shoes for weeks after – is that you can DRINK on it! Hell yeah, bitches – no having to conceal your bottles in a dodgy-looking paper bag! So, grab a disposable BBQ, a 6-pack of coronas and base yourself for the afternoon! Just don’t forget to take your rubbish home with you!

TOP TIP: try to seat yourself close enough to one of the beach bars to enjoy their music and vibe, but obviously not close enough to get yourself moved on!

Be big kids at the Brighton palace pier

From candy floss to fairground rides, fish and chips to wine bars; Brighton’s Palace Pier is not only the iconic landmark of the seaside city, but it’s also the ideal place to have some fun! Grab some tickets to ride the walterz (before your fish and chips, not after – trust me!) grab some sugared doughnuts, take some daft face-in-the-hole pictures and finish it off with a glass of wine in Victoria and Alberts bar overlooking the entire beach! Perfect!

Enjoy a night out in Brighton’s famous LGBT scene

Brighton Pride is one of the most famous pride festivals in the country, and definitely one of the most fun! But even if you’re not visiting over pride weekend, Brighton’s LGBT scene is nothing short of iconic. LGBT and straight communities can be found seamlessly mixing right across the city, but if it’s exclusively gay you’re after Brighton offers some of the best lesbian and gay bars in the country. I recommend the (self proclaimed) oldest gay bar in the city, The Bulldog for a chilled out evening, The Royal Oak in Kemptown for lots of dancing and Legends for day drinking on the sea facing terrace.
