Spring Makeup Bag Essentials

I have wanted to tell you my makeup bag essentials for a while because as we all know I love my beauty products, I love finding and trying out new products and I love being able to share what works well for me and also where to save spending your money on!

Over the past couple of years, I have tried many products in the quest for the perfect every day make up look. For me, my priorities are a good coverage foundation, a concealer to highlight my face, a long-lasting lipstick and ultimately, I want my products to be affordable and versatile.

What I love about about make up in general is the fact you can switch up your looks and what you use as many times as you want, to find the right products for you.

So as much as I love sharing exciting new products with you all, below is my absolute makeup bag essentials that help me feel groomed and confident every day. It may look a lot, but it takes me less than 10 minutes to apply!

Let’s talk details!

Step 1 – Priming

I firstly prime my face with the Vitamin E Serum from Superdrug, I find this gives my skin a good base and keeps my make up in place. Alternatively, for a night out, or a heavier makeup look I use the Nivea Men’s shaving balm – strange but true!

Step 2- Foundation/Concealer

I apply my foundation using a Real Techniques buffing brush. My holy grail foundation is the ‘Fit Me’ foundation from Maybelline in shade 220, I am yet to find a foundation to beat this one!

I then use the same make and brand concealer in shade 10 under my eyes, my t zone and a dab on my chin, highlighting the areas of my face the sunlight should hit. I use my beauty blender to buff this into my skin.

Step 3 -Contouring

I use the Loreal infallible foundation stick in the shade 220 to contour my face, these sticks are hugely pigmented and super easy to blend – I love them!

Step 4 – Setting

Setting my face is an important step as I like to not have to re touch my face throughout the working day. By far the best setting powder I have found is the banana powder from Revolution. I use another of my real technique brushes to dust under my eyes, around my mouth and nose and forehead, basically anywhere that potentially will rub off or shine!

Step 5 – Face

I use the Mac Mineralize skin finish in ‘Give me sun’ anywhere I have contoured, so my cheekbones and along my hair line. I then use a smaller brush to add my blusher to the apples of my cheeks, my favourite is the nip fab palette as I use all four shades (not at once!). I then use my highlighter brush to add a touch of highlight to my cheekbones and down my nose.

Step 6 – Eyes

I wear false lashes every day, so I usually add these last along with my mascara, I have never found a mascara to be one of my makeup bag essentials purely because I always wear false lashes but I tend to stick to Rimmel or Maybelline as these don’t smudge and are a good price point.

I then apply the Anastasia Beverley Hills brow pomade with an angled brush to my eyebrows. I haven’t found a cheaper product that works as well as this, so for me this is one item that is well worth the money!

Step 7 – Lips

Lastly, I never apply lipstick without first applying my Mac prep and prime and some lipliner, depending on the day my faithful’s are the mac Stripdown liner and Velvet Teddy lipstick.

I then use the vitamin e hydrating spray to set my final make up look and I am good to go! Apart from my lipstick I then don’t need to reapply or touch up my make up all day.
