Yoto Mini review: the ultimate kids travel companion

Yoto Mini review

The Yoto Mini is our new travel companion, it is a lightweight portable device that even comes with its own travel bag so it can go anywhere your child does.

Reduce screen time with the Yoto Mini

My favourite thing about the Yoto Mini is the fact that it is a fantastic alternative to screens. I have to admit that I am guilty of putting the kids in front of the TV or their tablets just so I can take five minutes, normally to clean up after them! So having something that is screen free and plays specific audio content is perfect for little ones.

The Yoto Mini uses physical cards and they have so many to choose from, they can immerse themselves into a book, listen to music, complete activities or learn all about the world.

Perfect for imaginative play

The Yoto Mini is perfect for imaginative play. Imaginative play is an integral part of a child’s development. It allows them to practice and expand their social skills, it develops their creativity and pushes them to explore the world around them.

My daughters have had so much fun pretending to be the characters and learning so much about the world around them. They are less interested in the TV and have really started to explore playing together.

Taking the Yoto Mini on a road trip

The Yoto Mini has been a great addition to our car journeys. We have a lot of family that live across the country so having something that will keep the children occupied for long periods is truly a godsend! It last for 20 hours and has a USB-C fast charging cable.

You can even get your Yoto Mini a jacket to keep it safe on your adventures! The Yoto Mini also works with headphones so there’s no need for anyone to be disturbed and you can play sleep sounds/white noise if the little ones are in need of a nap or struggle to sleep in the car.

How is the Yoto Mini different from the Yoto Player?

So the main difference is the size, the Yoto Player is a cube shaped design with a programmable light for use at night, and a charging dock. The Yoto Mini is as it states, a smaller version that is perfect for on-the-go, with handy USB fast charge – great for road trips, days out, at the beach, and even for use around the house as it lightweight for little ones to carry with ease.

What cards does the mini use?

The Yoto Mini uses the same cards as the Yoto Player, so if you have both devices you can use the cards on both. Cards range from ages 0-5, 5-8 and 8-12 plus, and can be purchased in sets or as single cards. There are so many cards to choose from, including your classic fairy tales and bedtime stories, learning and non-fiction, mindfulness and meditation – all offering many educational benefits.

Travel case & acessories

Yoto have a range of super useful accessories, from the travel case and mini adventure jacket (that we were gifted for review), to card cases and headphones. The travel case comes in useful for road trips, keeping Yoto Mini and its cards all safely packed away ready for use. The adventure jacket is a must if when you have toddlers handling it, it gives that extra level of security.

You can purchase the Yoto Mini on the website here for just £59.99. Follow Yoto on Instagram @yotoplay for more tips and fun ways to use the device.
