I’ve never managed to stick with a smartwatch.
I’ve tried. Honestly. But no matter how clever they are, I always end up taking them off. They’re bulky, they clash with outfits, they feel uncomfortable when I’m typing, and sleeping with one on my wrist feels about as appealing as wearing jeans to bed.
So when I was given the chance to try the Luna Smart Ring, I was intrigued.
Could a tiny ring really give me all the health insights I wanted without making me feel like I was wearing a miniature computer on my finger?
After several weeks of wearing it every day (and night), here’s my honest review.
First Impressions
Let’s address the elephant in the room: most health trackers aren’t exactly fashion accessories.
The Luna Smart Ring isn’t something I’d mistake for fine jewellery, but it’s definitely one of the more discreet wearable trackers I’ve tried. With different colour options available and the flexibility to choose which finger you wear it on, it’s far less intrusive than a smartwatch.
For me, that was the biggest win straight away.
I stopped noticing I was wearing it within a couple of days.
The packaging also deserves a mention. Everything feels premium from the moment you open the box, and the charging case is compact enough to throw into a handbag without a second thought.

What I Loved
Step Tracking Without The Watch
One of my favourite things about the Luna Smart Ring is how effortless it makes step tracking.
Previously I’d relied on my phone, which meant any steps taken around the house often went completely uncounted.
Now I find myself weirdly invested in seeing how much movement I’m actually getting through a normal day. It turns out chasing a child, carrying laundry upstairs and endlessly walking between rooms adds up more than you’d think.
It Turned Me Into A Sleep Obsessive
The biggest surprise? Sleep tracking.
I wasn’t expecting to care about it nearly as much as I do.
Now I’m slightly obsessed.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing your sleep patterns laid out clearly each morning. More importantly, it’s made me much more aware of how certain habits affect my energy levels the next day.
The more quality sleep I get, the more motivated I am to protect it.
Which is probably something every parent could benefit from.

Stress Tracking Has Been Surprisingly Eye-Opening
One feature I didn’t think I’d use much was stress monitoring.
I was wrong.
The Luna Smart Ring has made me far more aware of the moments that genuinely spike my stress levels.
Unsurprisingly, the school run and morning rush feature heavily.
Rather than just feeling frazzled, I’m starting to spot patterns. Knowing what’s likely to trigger stress means I can prepare for it better, build in more breathing space where possible and generally be a bit kinder to myself.
The Alcohol Reality Check
This was probably the biggest eye-opener of all.
The ring tracks Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which is often used as an indicator of recovery and overall wellbeing.
What I quickly noticed was that every time I drank alcohol, my HRV took a significant hit.
I knew alcohol wasn’t exactly a health drink, but seeing the impact reflected in real numbers the following day was surprisingly powerful.
It’s made me think much more carefully about my own health choices.
Although I will admit there are times when having access to so much data can make you slightly more judgemental of yourself than you might otherwise be.
The Readiness Score Is Weirdly Reassuring
We’ve all had those mornings.
You wake up feeling flat, exhausted or just not quite yourself, despite having no obvious reason why.
The Luna Smart Ring gives you a daily Readiness Score, designed to show how recovered your body is and how prepared it is for the day ahead.
What surprised me was how often it matched how I felt.
Instead of beating myself up for not being productive enough, I’ve found myself listening to my body more.
If the data says recovery is low and I feel rubbish, maybe I don’t need to force myself into pretending everything is fine.

LifeOS Feels Like Having A Tiny Health Coach In Your Pocket
This was probably the feature I was least expecting to enjoy.
LifeOS allows you to log meals, ask questions and track health-related information without endlessly typing things into an app.
Using voice commands makes the whole process feel much less like admin.
I’ve found myself asking questions throughout the day, checking calorie and protein intake, and generally using it as a simple way to stay aware of what I’m eating without getting lost in spreadsheets and calculations.
It’s one of those features that sounds like a gimmick until you start using it.

Battery Life Is Excellent
One of my biggest frustrations with smartwatches has always been charging.
It feels like the moment you finally get into a routine, they’re flat again.
The Luna Smart Ring is the complete opposite.
I regularly get several days of use from a single charge, which means I spend far less time worrying about battery levels and far more time actually using it.
Are There Any Downsides?
If I’m being completely honest, wearable health technology comes with one unavoidable challenge.
The more data you have, the more aware you become.
Sometimes that’s empowering.
Sometimes it’s slightly confronting.
I’ve definitely caught myself becoming a little too invested in individual metrics or feeling unnecessarily guilty after a poor night’s sleep or a glass of wine.
That’s not a fault of the Luna Smart Ring specifically, but it’s worth mentioning because it’s something many people experience with health trackers in general.
The key is remembering that the data is there to inform you, not judge you.
Would I Recommend The Luna Smart Ring?
Yes – particularly if you’re someone who wants the benefits of a fitness tracker but hates wearing a smartwatch.
For me, the biggest success isn’t the technology itself.
It’s that I’ve actually kept wearing it.
The sleep tracking has helped me prioritise rest, the stress monitoring has highlighted patterns I hadn’t noticed before, and the readiness scores have encouraged me to listen to my body a little more.
Most importantly, it fits into my life without constantly reminding me it’s there.
And for a wearable device, that’s probably the biggest compliment I can give it.
