Everything you need to know before getting botox

With the salons reopening their doors this week after 3 long months of us all having to blend our own roots, it comes as absolutely no surpise that beauticians across the UK are already booked up well into Summer. And with many long-awaited events planned for this summer, more and more people are considering getting botox for the first time.

If that’s you, you’ve come to the right place – we caught up with Registered Nurse and Cosmetic Injector, Molly, to find out what to expect from getting botox for the first time.

What should I expect from getting botox?

Anti-wrinkle injections freeze the muscles to stop creases and wrinkles from appearing during facial expressions. Whereas Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to plump or fill in the areas that have lost volume and smoothness.

Starting anti-wrinkle injections early may help delay the appearance of wrinkles and improve the appearance of the skin.It takes two full weeks for the anti wrinkle injections to take full effect and then you can reattend for a top up if required. The main misconception with anti wrinkle injections is that your face will appear frozen and that you won’t be able to have facial expressions! When done correctly anti wrinkle injections give a younger but natural look!

Do you have to be a nurse to administer botox?

You do not need to be a nurse to administer Botox, however due to the fact Botox targets the nervous system if done incorrectly it can result in serious lifelong complications if it is not done by a trained medical professional.

How many areas will I need?

There are 3 common areas that are most popular when speaking about anti-wrinkle injections:Forehead linesFrown lines Crows feet  Before you receive your treatment you will have a consultation where you will express your desired outcome and from that we would decide on the amount of areas you would like treated. As everyone is different and has a different goal with their treatments.
