Hyaluronic Acid and your skin

If you’re into your skincare as much as I am you will know that a dry complexion is never ideal and if you wear make up daily this will affect how your makeup looks, regardless of how much you spend on your products. However, a lot of people make the mistake of confusing dry skin with dehydrated skin and end up purchasing wrong type of products. Which is why today I want to talk about Hyaluronic Acid and your skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

So, what is the difference? Dry skin is lacking in oil whereas dehydrated skin is lacking in water.

And with the continuous change in the British weather a lot of us will be feeling dehydrated without even realizing. So, if you don’t already, now is the time to up your hydration game!

How can we add more moisture back into our skin?

Apart from the obvious of drinking plenty of water there is one ingredient that you need to include in your skincare regime if you don’t already.

That is of course, Hyaluronic Acid.

What is Hyaluronic Acid and how does it help the skin?

Hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate molecule and a natural component to skin. It has the unique capacity to retain water meaning any water you lose naturally throughout the day can be replaced with the acid.

As we age our skin loses its moisture meaning our skin can feel drier and this is when more fine lines and wrinkles will appear. Adding a hyaluronic acid to your skincare regime will help to boost the moisture content and in turn keep your skin soft and smooth. Not only that but the acid will absorb the moisture around you leaving your skin looking plump and hydrated and who doesn’t want that!!

The key to seeing results is consistency. Use your hyaluronic twice daily on cleansed skin and within a few weeks you will for sure see a difference. This is the one key product that I refuse to miss out of my regime and if I run out I will immediately re purchase.

Worried about your skin type?

Don’t be! If you suffer with drier skin be sure to add a moisturizer on top to ensure you’re locking the moisture into the skin.

Suffer with oily skin and worried this will make it worse? Don’t worry! Even the oiliest of skins will benefit from this acid and if anything, you may see a difference in how much oil you are producing.

And finally, don’t be put off by the word acid, Hyaluronic is mild and unlike lactic or salicylic acid this one does not irritate or exfoliate the skin.
