How Tyga works is simple

Tyga Indian Spice Box

You’ll receive a sleek Tyga Indian spice box in the post, containing 12 pots of bespoke spice blends, pastes and fresh herbs to create two main meals and two side dishes for up to eight people. All you need to do is add a few fresh ingredients as described on your recipe card (such as lamb, chopped tomatoes or onions) and you’re ready to cook up a storm. Easy-to-follow recipe cards talk you through how to create each of the dishes, with step-by-step videos also available to watch as you cook at Tyga.tv.

Created by curry enthusiast Matt Griffiths, Tyga boxes offer a simple, accessible way to get to grips with authentic Indian cuisine, encouraging home cooking as a fresh, healthy alternative to the usual takeaway and ready-meal options on offer. Each of the recipes contained in the kits has been developed by Tyga’s in-house chef Shahin, boasting over 20 years of professional Indian cookery experience under his belt, who personally chooses and creates the unique spice blends and pastes used in each of the recipes.

The subscription service itself is entirely flexible. Priced at £10.99 per box, customers can choose how regularly they wish to receive a box; once a month, once every two months or once a quarter. There is no contract tying you in- customers simply receive the boxes as often as they like, for as long as they like.

Recipes included in the Tyga boxes change every month, designed to take customers on a culinary tour of India with traditional dishes from regions across the country. Example dishes range from more specialist recipes, such as Lamb Dhansak, Malabar Prawn, Methi Chicken and Asparagus Sabji, to the more widely-known, including Lamb Kofta, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and Bombay Potatoes. No culinary skill is needed to create the dishes; each are suitable for complete beginners to Indian cuisine.

Founder of Tyga, Matt Griffiths

“As a lifelong fan of Indian cuisine, I tried and failed for years to recreate restaurant-quality Indian dishes in my home kitchen. It was only when I met Shahin- the chef at my favourite Indian restaurant- that he taught me the secrets behind authentic Indian cooking; infusing the oil, using the best quality spices and slow, gentle cooking. A huge part of the reason why Indian dishes never quite taste the same at home is your store cupboard. Many people don’t realise that the spices they’ve had in there for months- even years- lose their potency within a month of opening, meaning you simply won’t be able to get the depth of flavour into your dishes when using them.”

“That’s what gave me the idea to create Tyga; a simple way of giving people all the tools they need to recreate those delicious, restaurant Indian dishes at home. We use only the best spices and paste ingredients in each box and seal them in ‘pods’ to ensure they’re as fresh as possible when you come to use them, packing in that much-needed flavour. A lot of people are also nervous of attempting to cook Indian dishes at home- whether it be the complicated ingredients needed or the unfamiliar cooking methods- so we’ve rectified this by packing exactly what you need into one box and including easy-to-follow instruction print-outs and videos. You’ve simply got to chuck in the Tyga spices, add your fresh ingredients and watch culinary magic unfold!”

Tyga subscription boxes are available to purchase at www.tyga.com, priced from £10.99 per box. Three different subscription options are on offer; one box per month, one box every two months or one box per quarter. Gift options are also available.
