Fake tan like a pro with Watermans latest new tanning range

Watermans tanning mousse

I don’t know about you but I am dreaming about those sunshine days and my skin has never looked paler! Whether you’re a bronzed all-year queen like myself or opt for the ever so slightly sunkissed look self-tan is the safest and quickest option.

Regardless of the look, you’re going for one piece of advice you need to know is the secret to that streak-free, long-lasting golden glow is all in the prep and application.

When it comes to tans, I have tried them all! So, I was super excited to try the brand new premium fake tanning foam Browned off exclusively created by Watermans. Founded by Fail and Matt Waterman they have cemented their place in the industry as the number one retailer for the finest products for hair growth, skin care, and now tanning.

Watermans new tanning range review

Browned off, a new exclusive premium fake that features key ingredients like Aloe Vera and Vitamin E promises to leave you with the best-looking tan. Although this product has been kindly gifted I have tried and tested this tan myself for a full honest review.

My first thought upon application was how easy to apply it was, the foam blended into my skin super easy without leaving streaks, for a fake tan it actually felt much more hydrating and nourishing on the skin. As I was gifted the light to medium shade, I decided to apply two coats to give me a deeper tan, the spray pump makes it super quick and easy to apply which I did right before bed ready to wash off the next morning.

One thing I am very particular about when it comes to a tan is the smell, I hate the smell of biscuity tan! However, this one smelt divine, like coconuts and holidays! It’s also Vegan friendly and contains a natural antioxidant that helps to keep your tan even. Available in two shades, Light to Medium and Medium to Dark for £14.99 alongside a facial tanning mist for £13.99 available from Amazon and Boots. Highly recommended!

Check out my tips below for the perfect tanning application

Shave before tanning

Make sure you shave at least 24 hours before tanning application, when I say it’s a process it really is! If I know I want my tan for Saturday you bet I am shaving on a Wednesday night! Ensuring you leave at least 24 hours beforehand will ensure your hair follicles have closed back up to avoid that freckled look.

Exfoliate!

You want your skin to be in the best condition possible for tanning, so exfoliation is key! Buff those dead skin cells away and ensuring your skin is super soft and smooth will enable the tan to blend much easier. If you struggle with a patchy tan it will usually be because you have not exfoliated.

Stay moisturized

After shaving and exfoliating now is the time to moisturize. Nourished and hydrated skin will act as a barrier preventing the tanning formula from accessing the skin. If you suffer from dry patches on your knees and elbows add a light moisturizer to these areas right before you tan.

How do I apply?

Always use a clean mitt! I start from my legs and work upwards, ensuring when it comes to my ankles and feet I’m not applying a full pump (I usually use the residue that is leftover) I usually apply around 2 to 3 pumps for each area but it truly depends how you want your tan to look, its best to start off with less as you can always apply more. I avoid tanning my face but if I do I use tanning facial drops mixed with my moisturizer. If you do want to tan your face use a kabuki brush to apply rather than a mitt!

My best tip for any fake tan beginners is to sleep with it on! Ensure you are wearing super loose clothing and wash off first thing in the morning. Don’t forget to maintain the life span of your tan keep up with your moisturizing!
