A Little Paris in Liverpool: Petit Café Du Coin, Lark Lane Review

If you’re ever wandering down Lark Lane on a sunny afternoon (or a drizzly one, which, let’s face it is more likely), a stop at Petit Café Du Coin will feel like you’ve stepped into a Parisian side street. Think candlelit tables, warm lighting, and vintage decor, the relaxed hum of conversation, the gentle clink of glasses and live jazz floating through the air. The perfect mix of cosy, romantic and effortless charm!

The Location

Petit Café Du Coin sits on one of Liverpool’s most loved streets for independent food spots and quirky shops – Lark Lane. Its location means you can wander in after browsing the local boutiques or stop for a coffee after a walk around Sefton Park which is just over the road. It is a perfect stop for people watching in my opinion!

The Drinks

The Petit Café drinks menu has wide range of drinks from the comforting and traditional to the elegant and fresh. I tried their signature hot chocolate as it was one of those cold wintery days which always makes me crave something warm and cosy. The actual pouring and mixing of the double cream with the dark chocolate is an experience in itself, but the end result is a deep, rich, smooth and indulgent hot chocolate which I can well imagine in the cafes of Paris. Slow sips recommended!

If you prefer something lighter and cooler, the strawberry matcha would be my go-to here. Super creamy and refreshing without being too heavy – Petit got it spot on. I’ll definitely be popping in with my Kindle for a matcha moment in future.

For anyone staying into the evening the cocktail list is well worth exploring. We tried the Espresso Martini which is made with proper espresso, Ketel One and Kahlua to give a luxurious velvety texture. The intriguing sounding Popcorn cocktail is on my list for next time – brown butter buffalo trace, Martell VS, caramel and popcorn!

The Food

The food menu suits the cosy vibe perfectly. One of the highlights is the cheese and ham toastie which arrived golden and warm with just the right amount of oozy melted cheese and thick ham. Simple but delicious – it was an absolute crowd pleaser! If you’re looking for nibbles to go with your drinks you’ll find plenty of olives, bread, hummus and cheeses too.

The Atmosphere

What sets Petit Café Du Coin apart is the vibe. There’s a warm glow as soon as you step inside, gentle music setting the tone, and a good mix of families, couples and groups of friends huddled round tables or sat in booths deep in conversation. If you’re looking for something different for the evenings, from Thursday to Sunday they even have live jazz! The staff are super friendly and relaxed too, never make you feel rushed even when it gets busy, and make you feel looked after without any fuss.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a place in Liverpool where you can enjoy something delicious to drink, listen to live music and relax in a cosy setting then Petit Café Du Coin on Lark Lane is a spot to remember. With warm service and a charming location surrounded by independent businesses, it’s a little corner of Paris right here in the city.
