Is the Google Pixel 3a the best phone for bloggers?

As the blogosphere continues to grow, so does the need for smartphones that carry all of the tools required for those looking secure their spot in the industry.

With more and more brands moving their advertising budget into the hands of their influencer marketing teams, the importance of standing out in front of PRs has never been so high in the competitive world of Instagram influencers.

Though the life of a blogger/influencer might appear all glamour and glitz online, huge amounts of time, effort and money goes into getting those perfect shots for their grid – and with some top bloggers getting paid upwards of £10,000 per post, it’s not surprising that there’s a huge outcry for a smartphone that allows you to run the business side of blogging easily, and quickly, whilst on the go.

Enter the Google Pixel 3a – a phone that boasts the camera quality of a professional model combined with the ease of a laptop.

But does it measure up? We decided to put the Google Pixel 3a to the test and see if it’s really the best smartphone for bloggers…

Working from the Google Pixel 3a

Bloggers and influencers are always on-the-go, especially the up-and-coming micro-bloggers who often hold down a full time job as well as running a website. So, it’s important that you find a smartphone that you can work from while you’re out and about.

We used the Google Pixel 3a exclusively to run The Daily Struggle for a full week, and there was absolutely no dip in performance of any of the channels – in fact, we saw a boost in social engagement thanks to some great shots of the Chapter of Us launch in Liverpool earlier this month. Swiping between home pages is really smooth smooth, and switching between recently used apps is fairly quick too – making it really easy to dip between photo editing software, wordpress and Instragm.

It’s only when you try doing something a little taxing, such as shooting a really quick burst of photos or installing a new large app that you see the Pixel 3a’s performance dip.

Google Pixel 3a battery life

The Google Pixel 3a’s battery life is definitely a huge ‘pro’ when weighing up the smartphone’s qualities; not only does the battery last for a solid 8 hours of near-constant use, but it charges really quickly too – and lord knows bloggers are sick to DEATH of spending their lives in coffee shops waiting for their devices to charge!

Google Pixel 3a camera

Whether you’re a fashion blogger, a fitness blogger or a local Liverpool influencer – if you want to make big bucks in the Instagram game, you need to keep those gorgeous grid pics rolling out.

The camera is the primary selling point for the Google Pixel 3a, and we could easily see why. Top Shot, HDR+, Super Res Zoom, Google’s excellent motion-tracking auto-focus and the brilliant Night Sight are all included – and there’s also a handy new Timelaspe feature that’s ideal for MUAs and beauty bloggers if you’re looking to showcase a new look.

Point, shoot and get fantastic images – it’s literally as easy as that.

At just £400, you’re going to be very pushed to find a better camera on the market in that price bracket than the Google Pixel 3a.

Google Pixel 3a: yes or no?

As far as smartphones for bloggers go, the Google Pixel 3a is an ideal choice based on the camera quality alone. We would definitely recommend it to bloggers and influencers if you’re looking for a handset that allows you to run your business on the move.

A few more things you need to know

Though the Google Pixel 3a gets thebig thumbs up from a blogging perspective, as with anything there are a few niggles we need to tell you.

  • The Google Pixel 3a doesn’t come with headphones, which is annoying as the charging/audio port is completely different from any other you’re likely to have lying around your house. But earphones are super easy to find on eBay and amazon, so just be sure to get them ordered before you plan a trip to the gym.
  • A really small thing, but the emoji keyboard looks completely different on the Google smartphones than any other – what looks like a blushing emoji is actually an iPhone horrified emoji, so be aware when writing those Insta captions!
